We will be accepting applications for our Wholetime Firefighter positions in October. In the meantime, we are holding a number of ‘Have A Go’ taster days to help give you a feel of what being a firefighter entails. Please see below for more information on our ‘Have A Go’ days.

Have you thought about becoming a firefighter, but not taken the next step?

Being a firefighter at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service offers you an exciting and rewarding career with a real opportunity for progression. In order to give you some practical hands-on experience of what being a firefighter entails, we are putting on a number of ‘Have A Go’ days. These ‘Have A Go’ days will be taking place over the course of the next few months, and on these days you will be able to:

  • Find out more about the fitness level requirements
  • Find out more about what the job entails
  • Speak to current firefighters about how they find the job
  • Speak to one of our recruitment champions

By putting on these days, the Service hopes to encourage more women, BAMEs, LGBT+ and those with certain disabilities (e.g. dyslexia) to attend and consider becoming a firefighter. This will hopefully enable us to have a diverse workforce that better represents the local communities within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland that we serve. The ‘Have A Go’ days will be listed below when they have been confirmed, so please keep an eye on this page.

The Seven Job Related Tests

As a result of this, there are a number of Job Related Tests in the recruitment process that all applicants will be required to complete successfully. All seven Job Related Tests and how you will be required to do them can be seen below:
